in the capital, with the protesters. sherrod brown, in ohio, turned his campaign over to the movement in that state to overturn their anti-labor law. and so, you really saw something begin a very long time ago. and there were a lot of people who were hard-pressed, who got engaged politically, in defense of their own labor rights a year and a half ago, and transitioned that into this campaign. now, the interesting thing that happened, in this campaign, is that mitt romney showed himself to be precisely the sort of person that they had been fighting. someone who was clearly committed to attacking unions, but also who was willing to say and do anything to win. and i cannot emphasize to you, not just in ohio, but in other states across the great industrial heartland, romney's comments saying that jeep was going to close and move to china, that scared is people? >> you heard that a lot in toledo last night? >> and it also woke a lot of people up. not just in toledo. in toledo, yes, ed, but also up in detroit. i heard it over in wisconsin. i think it's very important to realize, a

incumbent in the country not only won, she won by 16 points. republican senator scott brown of massachusetts, who was so stuffed with hedge fund misunderstood that he burped credit default swaps. scott brown lost by a lot to the nation's foremost authority on the economic rights of the middle class. after marriage rights for same-sex couples were voted down in state after state after state for years, more than 30 times in a row, this year, all change in maine, they voted on marriage equality and they voted for it. in maryland, they voted on marriage equality and they voted for it. in minnesota, they were asked to vote against marriage equality, and minnesota refused to ban it. in washington state, the vote is not called yet. they are still counting the vote and we will be watching it closely, but if you are on the pro-gay right side in washington state, it should be noted that it is looking pretty good. in iowa, anti-gay activists were sure that they were going to turf out a judge for ruling in favor of marriage equality. they had done it before, to a bunch of other judges. they had been suc

are keeping a close eye on the vote tally in arizona and senator scott brown is hinting at his political future. first as new members make their way to capitol hill, allen west continues to fight for his seat. west has now filed a complained in st. lucie county yesterday calling for a recount of all the early ballots in the race. west trails patrick murphy by 0.58% and according to state law an automatic recount is needed only when a difference in votes is 0.5% or less so not at that threshold. west told nbc, quote, i think that we need to have the electoral process play out as it should, and then wherever the results lie, that's fine with me. but i want to make sure we have honor and integrity in that process. meanwhile, on the hill yesterday democrats held a press conference to introduce incoming members of congress and the house minority leader nancy pelosi addressed murphy as congressman elect. the only nonsitting member to speak. >>> meanwhile, out in arizona there are 340,000 ballots that have yet to be counted in the senate race between richard carmona and jeff flake. ca

the bottom line to understand, tammy baldwin will tell you this, brown will tell you, candidates who won races had to spend six, seven, eight hours on the phone, begging for money. this money and politics problem is a crisis. is a crisis the matter what the final result. you may be able to collier with a victory, but do not think it is not a real problem. the people understand that. in montana and colorado, they have referendums on whether those -- they should encourage a constitutional amendment to overturn citizens united. the results are very encouraging, not just in those states, the cities across the country people voted to overturn citizens united. there is an exciting result of montana as well. it looks like the new governor of montana, a democrat, a guy who was attorney general of montana, the person who went to the supreme court and fought to maintain montana's historic are on corporate money in politics. we have elected people who really do understand that we have got to overturn citizens united. i think is important to recognize in the new senate, bernie sanders but overtu

are also simply losing support. this is much more exciting, with brian brown, who runs the organization -- the national organization for marriage. and he talks about how they were outspent this time. they have seen their support true. they are not going to go away. i agree with patrick, i think they could come back in a forceful way. but they have seen their support shrink and their grassroots support shrink and they have seen their donor base train. the mormon church as a player he did not see in this campaign. they were the dominant player and you also saw a a lot of the individual donors on that side, where is on the pro-quality side, you saw fair-minded people across the board standing up and campaigning for these initiatives on our side, and also digging deep in writing big checks. [inaudible name] was the single largest personal contribution, contributed 2.5 million in the state of washington. so you look across the board and arm in arm with our allies. >> the blue state argument, it's true. it happened in the blue state. >> okay, the state of maine has two republican
